Sierra Marjory Boggess (born May 20, 1982) is an American actress and singer. She is famous for her work in musical theater.
Sierra is best known for being the first actress to play Ariel in The Little Mermaid on Broadway. She is also well-known for playing Christine Daaé many times in The Phantom of the Opera. She first played Christine in Las Vegas in 2006. Later, in 2010, she played Christine again in London in Love Never Dies, which continues the story of Phantom.
In 2012, Sierra played Fantine in the London show of Les Misérables. She also played Christine on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera in 2013. In 2016, she created the role of Rosalie Mullins in the musical School of Rock.

Early Life and Education
Sierra Boggess was born and grew up in Denver, Colorado. She came from a family of musicians. When she was young, she was part of the Colorado Children's Chorale, a special choir for kids.
Sierra went to George Washington High School. She studied drama there, which helped her a lot in her early acting career. She later graduated from Millikin University in 2004 with a degree in Fine Arts. There, she focused on singing.
Sierra's Amazing Career
Sierra Boggess started her career in the musical Les Misérables. She was part of the group of performers and also learned the role of Cosette as a backup. She also performed in other musicals like Princesses, West Side Story, and The Pirates of Penzance.
Becoming Christine in Phantom
Around 2006, Sierra was chosen to play Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas. This show opened in June 2006. She played the main female role for about a year.
Making a Splash as Ariel
After Las Vegas, Sierra made her big debut on Broadway. She was the very first actress to play Ariel in The Little Mermaid. The show first had tryouts in Denver in 2007 before moving to Broadway.
The Broadway show started previews in November 2007. Sierra received great reviews for her performance as Ariel. She stayed with the show for about a year and a half, leaving in May 2009.
More Big Roles in London and New York
From 2010 to 2011, Sierra starred as Christine Daaé again. This time, it was in Love Never Dies, which is a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. This show was in London.
In 2011, she also performed as Christine in the 25th anniversary concert of The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall in London. This was a special event with her co-star Ramin Karimloo.
In 2012, Sierra joined the London cast of Les Misérables. She took on the role of Fantine, a different character from her earlier time with the show.
Back to Broadway's Phantom
In January 2013, Sierra returned to Broadway to play Christine in The Phantom of the Opera again. This was for the show's 25th anniversary on Broadway. She performed this role for a limited time.
After this, Sierra started teaching special musical theater classes. She also worked on a new musical based on the movie Ever After. In December 2013, she released her first solo album, Awakening: Live at 54 Below.
Later Career Highlights
In 2014, Sierra returned to The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway as Christine. She performed alongside Norm Lewis, who made history as the first African-American actor to play the Phantom on Broadway.
She also played Sarah Brown in a concert version of Guys and Dolls at Carnegie Hall in New York.
In 2015, Sierra created the role of Rebecca Steinberg in the Broadway musical It Shoulda Been You. Later that year, she began playing Principal Rosalie Mullins in the musical School of Rock, which was also on Broadway. She left School of Rock in August 2016.
In 2016, she sang the role of Lily in a concert staging of The Secret Garden. She worked with Ramin Karimloo again in this show.
Sierra also went on her first concert tour in Australia in 2017. Her sister, Summer Boggess, who plays the cello, joined her on tour.
In 2019, Sierra played Danielle de Barbarac in the musical Ever After The Musical. She also joined the cast of Into the Woods at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, playing Cinderella.
More recently, in 2022, Sierra starred as Mary in the musical Harmony in New York. This show later moved to Broadway in 2023, and Sierra continued her role. In 2023, she also played Lily Craven in The Secret Garden in Los Angeles.
Video Blogs and More
Sierra Boggess has created several video blog series. One series, called Daae Days, showed what it was like behind the scenes of The Phantom of the Opera. In this series, she even interviewed other actresses who had played Christine Daaé.
Another video blog, Going Bridal, showed her journey from rehearsals to opening night for the musical It Shoulda Been You. She also has a video series with her voice coach called Tea and Spinklers.
Sierra often shares a positive message: "You are enough. You are so enough. It's unbelievable how enough you are."
Personal Life
Sierra Boggess is married to producer and film director Stefano Da Frè. They got engaged on New Year's Eve in 2021 and were married in April 2023.
Sierra is also a big fan of yoga, is a vegetarian, and cares deeply about animal rights. She often takes part in Broadway Barks, an event that helps cats and dogs find homes.
