"Why Not" was first played on Radio Disney on April 15, 2003. It later came out in Australia and Europe on June 23, 2003. Hilary Duff liked the song a lot. She said it was "really fun" and "about just letting loose." A slightly different version of "Why Not" was later put on Hilary Duff's second album, Metamorphosis.
