What's the Movie About?
The movie begins with the famous 1958 cartoon Knighty Knight Bugs. After that, Bugs Bunny tells us how Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons became popular. He then introduces us to a character named Yosemite Sam.
Act 1: Yosemite Sam's Tricky Plan
In this part, Yosemite Sam tries to trick Granny to get her $50,000,000! Bugs Bunny hears his sneaky plan. Bugs pretends to be another suitor, and even Granny herself, to stop Sam. In the end, a safe falls on Sam, and he ends up in a fiery place.
A devil-like character offers Sam another chance at life. But Sam has to send someone else in his place. Sam agrees and tries to get Bugs Bunny in different ways. He tries as a Roman guard, an Arab, and his usual cowboy self. But Sam always fails! The devil-like character keeps offering more chances, but Sam finally gives up. He tells the devil-like character to get the rabbit himself and decides to stay where he is.
Act 2: Bugs Bunny vs. the Gangsters
Bugs Bunny talks about cops and robbers and old gangster movies. This part of the film features three cartoons about a gangster character named Rocky.
Bugs becomes a police detective with the code name "Elegant Mess." He is quickly captured by Rocky and his gang. They try to drown him, but Bugs escapes! He then sneaks into Rocky's birthday party, dressed as a showgirl. Rocky soon figures out Bugs' disguise. Rocky and Mugsy chase Bugs into a cereal factory. Bugs traps them on the cereal machine.
Later, Bugs takes Rocky to court. But Rocky's tricky lawyer uses confusing legal words. This helps Rocky get free!
Bugs has trouble finding Rocky's new hideout. Then, news spreads about farmer Porky Pig's amazing golden egg. It was supposedly laid by Daffy Duck! Rocky and his men capture Daffy and demand he lay a golden egg. Daffy eventually does after Rocky shoots him in the head. Rocky then orders Daffy to lay more eggs to fill their cartons. Suddenly, Bugs and the police burst in and arrest Rocky's gang. But another legal loophole sets Rocky free again.
Rocky then captures Tweety and demands money for him. Bugs asks Sylvester to find Tweety. He pins a badge on Sylvester's chest, which hurts him! Sylvester finds Tweety in Rocky's hideout. Sylvester tries many times to free Tweety, but he keeps failing. The police arrive and surround Rocky's hideout. Sylvester is seen as a hero for supposedly saving Tweety. Bugs finally brings Rocky to justice. But Bugs loses the keys to his handcuffs, so he has to go to jail with Rocky and Mugsy!
Act 3: The Oswald Awards
In the last part, Bugs Bunny introduces the Oswald Awards. These awards were created by Friz Freleng for animated characters. Bugs hosts the show himself. He announces the nominees: the Wolf from Three Little Bops, Sylvester & Tweety, and Bugs himself!
During Bugs' show, Daffy Duck talks to Yosemite Sam, who is impressed. But then Sam yells at Daffy to shut up. This sends Daffy right into Granny's arms. Granny glares at Daffy and an angry Sam. After Sylvester and Tweety perform, a character named Clarence eats Tweety! But Sylvester and Granny both grab Tweety back from him. Meanwhile, Daffy keeps complaining that he wasn't nominated.
When Bugs wins the award, Daffy gets very angry. He challenges Bugs to a talent show. Bugs seems to be the audience's favorite. But Daffy finally wins their applause by blowing himself up! Bugs gives the now-ghostly Daffy the award. Daffy says, "It just goes to show you, you gotta kill yourself to win an Oswald in this town!" He bows, but the audience stops clapping. He leaves in a huff. They only applauded because he was now a ghost.
"That's All Folks!"
This movie doesn't have a regular ending credits scene. After the last act, Bugs Bunny starts to say "That's all Folks!" But Porky Pig tells Bugs that it's his line. Bugs lets Porky say it. But before Porky can, the round "Iris-Door" from the beginning of the movie closes on him! Porky grumbles and says, "D-D-Dirty Guys" as the movie fades out.
