The Triple Hoax is the 57th exciting book in the famous Nancy Drew Mystery Series. It was first published on November 21, 1979. This book was special because it was the first Nancy Drew story released as a paperback by Simon & Schuster.

The story was written by Harriet Stratemeyer. She was a "ghostwriter," which means she wrote the book, but the name Carolyn Keene was used as the author. This was common for the Nancy Drew series.

About The Triple Hoax Mystery

The Triple Hoax has been printed many times since it first came out. It was republished by different companies, like Wanderer and Minstrel. Each new printing often had a brand-new cover design.

In 2005, Grosset & Dunlap printed the book again. This version was a yellow hardback book with a "glossy flashlight" design on the cover. The very first edition of the book had six pictures inside, drawn by Ruth Sanderson. However, these pictures were not included in later printings.

What's the Story About?

In The Triple Hoax, Nancy Drew, her Aunt Eloise, and her best friends Bess and George go on an amazing adventure. Their journey begins in the busy city of New York. They are there to help a friend who needs their detective skills.

While in New York, they see a show by a group of magicians called the Hoaxters. These magicians perform tricks where they take things like handbags and wallets from the audience. They always return the items, but Nancy feels that something is not quite right. She becomes suspicious of their act.

Nancy's Global Investigation

Nancy and her friends start to follow clues that lead them far away. Their investigation takes them all the way to Mexico City. In Mexico City, Nancy is asked to help find a child who has gone missing. This new mystery adds another layer to their adventure.

Later, their search brings them to sunny Los Angeles. Here, the Hoaxters try to scare Nancy and her friends. They threaten them, hoping to make them stop investigating. But Nancy Drew is brave and determined. She won't give up until she solves the mystery of the triple hoax!
