Even though the author is listed as Carolyn Keene, the real writer was Harriet Stratemeyer Adams. This book was the last one in the original 56-book series published by Grosset & Dunlap. These dealings involve certain employees at World Wide Gems, Inc. This is a big international jewelry company located in Tokyo, Japan. Nancy works hard to solve the mystery and bring the criminals to justice.
Video Game Adaptation
This book also inspired a video game! The game is called Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge. It's the 23rd game in the Nancy Drew point-and-click adventure game series. The game was made by a company called Her Interactive. It uses ideas from The Thirteenth Pearl and another Nancy Drew book called Tour of Danger.
