Themar's Green Future: Sustainability Efforts

Themar is working hard to be a more environmentally friendly town. In the past five years, they have invested in ways to create clean energy.

How Themar Saves Energy

The town has set up a small local heating system. This system uses a special unit that makes both electricity and heat. It produces 15 kilowatts of electricity and 30 kilowatts of heat.

Themar also uses solar power. They have installed solar panels that can generate 6 kilowatts of power from the sun.

Another cool project is a heat pump. This pump uses water and heat energy from the Werra River. It can provide 20 kilowatts of heat.

All these new systems were finished in March 2019. Because of these changes, Themar saves about 14,200 kilograms of carbon dioxide every year. This helps to keep the air cleaner.
