Themi's Skating Journey
Starting Out in Skating
Themi began skating when he was 12 years old. He started pair skating at age 15. His first partner was Sarah Jo Damron-Brown.
With Jacqueline Jimenez, he won a silver medal in 2001. This was at the U.S. Novice Championships. They also earned a silver medal at a Junior Grand Prix event. This event was held in Bulgaria.
Leftheris also skated with Nicole Hartunian in the 2003–04 season. He then partnered with Julian Burns. They placed 13th at the 2005 U.S. Championships.
Skating with Naomi Nari Nam
Themi started skating with Naomi Nari Nam in April 2005. Naomi had just decided to switch to pair skating. They quickly became a strong team.
In 2006, they placed 5th at the U.S. Championships. This was a great start for them.
The 2006–07 season was very successful. Nam and Leftheris won a bronze medal at 2006 Skate America. This is a big international competition. They also won a bronze medal at the 2007 U.S. Championships. They finished 6th at the 2007 Four Continents Championships.
In 2007, Naomi had surgery on her hip. This meant they had to miss some competitions. They placed 7th at the 2008 U.S. Championships. Naomi later retired from skating in 2008 due to her hip injury.
Themi and Naomi were coached by Peter Oppegard and Karen Kwan-Oppegard. They trained in California.
Later Skating Partnerships
After Naomi, Themi skated with Angelyn Nguyen in 2009. They won a bronze medal at a regional competition. This helped them qualify for the 2010 U.S. Championships. However, they had to withdraw from the event.
He then partnered with Lindsay Davis. They finished 8th at the 2011 U.S. Championships.
In 2015, Themi teamed up with Ji Min-ji. They decided to compete for South Korea. This new team won the South Korean national title in 2016. They won it again in 2017.
