Theo "Teddy" Peckham (born November 10, 1987) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played as a defenceman, which is a player who helps protect their team's goal. He is currently signed with the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks of the Ontario Elite Hockey League. Theo is also the half-brother of Angela James, who is famous for being one of the first female hockey players to join the Hockey Hall of Fame. Their father, Leo James, came to Canada from Mississippi to escape unfair treatment due to his race.

Theo Peckham's Hockey Journey
Starting in the NHL
Theo Peckham was chosen by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. This draft is where professional teams pick young players to join their clubs. He was the 75th player picked overall that year.
Peckham played his very first game in the NHL for the Oilers on March 7, 2008. This was against the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was his only NHL game that season.
Early Career Highlights
The Oilers called Peckham up from their minor league team, the Springfield Falcons, in February 2009. He played 15 NHL games during that season.
He earned his first point in an NHL game on March 2, 2010, against the Nashville Predators. A point can be a goal or an assist.
His first NHL goal came the next season, on November 11, 2010. He scored it against the Detroit Red Wings.
The Oilers liked Peckham's play and signed him to new contracts in 2011 and 2012.
Playing During the Lockout
In 2012, the NHL had a "lockout," which meant players couldn't play in the league for a while. To stay in shape, Peckham signed with the San Francisco Bulls in the ECHL. He played four games there before leaving the team.
Moving to Other Teams
After his time with the Oilers, Peckham signed with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013. He played for their minor league team, the Rockford IceHogs, for the entire 2013–14 season.
In 2014, Peckham joined the Wichita Thunder in the ECHL. He was even chosen as the team captain. He played 26 games for them before deciding to play hockey overseas.
He then played a few games for HC ’05 Banská Bystrica in Slovakia and later for Rødovre Mighty Bulls in Denmark in 2015.
Later Career and Senior Hockey
Peckham returned to the Wichita Thunder for the 2015–16 season. After that, he played for the Rapid City Rush briefly in 2016.
Later, Peckham joined the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks in the WOAA Senior AA Hockey League. He played a season there before moving to the Hamilton Steelhawks.
More recently, in the 2023-2024 season, Peckham signed with the Elora Rocks of the Western Ontario Super Hockey League.
Career Totals
Theo Peckham played in 160 NHL games during his career. He scored 4 goals and had 13 assists, for a total of 17 points. He also spent 388 minutes in the penalty box.
