Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos is an exciting children's novel written by R. L. LaFevers. It tells the story of a brave young girl who deals with ancient curses and thrilling mysteries.

The Story of Theodosia

Theodosia Throckmorton is a very smart and clever girl. Her important job is to remove dangerous curses from items in her father's museum. These dark spells are everywhere, and Theo must work fast to fix things.

A Cursed Statue Arrives

One day, a special crate arrives from Theo's mother, who is in Egypt. Inside is a cursed statue of Bastet, an Egyptian cat goddess. While Theo tries to move the curse to a wax figure, she gets distracted. The curse accidentally jumps into her own cat, Isis!

More Curses and a New Friend

Soon, Theo's mother returns from Egypt. She brings many more cursed treasures with her. At the train station, Theo meets Sticky Will, a street kid trying to pick her father's pocket. Will warns Theo that someone is following her mother.

Back at the museum, Theo senses powerful curses on the new artifacts. The strongest one is a gem called the Heart of Egypt. This gem has enough power to cause big trouble for all of Great Britain.

The Mystery of the Stolen Heart

The next day, Theo's brother Henry comes home from boarding school. Suddenly, the Heart of Egypt is stolen! Theo thinks someone from the British Museum might be involved. She decides to investigate, and Henry tags along.

They follow a suspicious man named Mr. Tetley. In a busy part of London, they see Will again. They watch as someone takes the Heart from Tetley. Then, the same person is hurt in a churchyard. The man whispers "Somerset House" and tells Theo to find "Wigmere."

Joining the Chosen Keepers

Theo sends Henry and Will to Somerset House. She tries to help the injured man using her special amulets. Soon, help arrives, and Theo meets Lord Wigmere. He is the leader of the Antiquarian Society and a secret group called the Brotherhood of Chosen Keepers. This group works to remove curses.

Theo is happy to know there are others like her. But she is also worried because no one else can sense curses the way she can. Will later becomes a messenger for the Keepers. Theo also worries that Lord Wigmere might think her mother stole the Heart of Egypt. Her mother works with Count Von Braggenchnot, the leader of the Serpents of Chaos. This group wants to bring bad things to England.

Adventure in Egypt

Theo escapes and secretly gets on a ship with her parents heading to Egypt. There, Theo finds a hidden part of a pyramid. She discovers that Nigel Bollingsworth, the museum's First Assistant Curator, is the real traitor!

Clever Theo uses Egyptian magic, like special dolls, to hurt Tetley. She throws sand from the tomb at Nigel, and part of his face disappears. Theo finds another tomb and returns the Heart of Egypt to its rightful place. She also finds an important artifact, the Was scepter, and uses it to hit Nigel.

Theo Becomes a Keeper

Theo is rescued by her parents and Nabir, her mother's guide. They return home. Lord Wigmere gives Theodosia a special ring. This means Theo is now an official member of the Brotherhood of the Chosen Keepers!
