Thiago Neves' Club Journey
Starting His Professional Career
Thiago Neves began his football journey in his home country, Brazil. He was born in Curitiba and started playing professionally at the age of 20. His first club was Paraná. His great performances quickly caught the eye of teams from other countries.
In 2006, he moved to Japan to play for Vegalta Sendai. He joined them on a loan, which means he played for them for a set time before returning to his original club.
Success with Fluminense
In 2007, Thiago Neves returned to Brazil and joined Fluminense on loan. He played so well that Fluminense decided to sign him permanently. He scored 14 goals in 42 games. That year, he also helped Fluminense win the Copa do Brasil. This was his first major title as a professional player.
In 2008, he continued to shine in the Copa Libertadores. This is a big tournament for South American clubs. He scored seven goals in 13 matches. In the final, he even scored a hat-trick (three goals in one game). Even though Fluminense lost the final in a penalty shootout, his performance was amazing.
Playing in Europe and the Middle East
Later in 2008, Thiago Neves moved to Germany to play for Hamburger SV. He was seen as a key player for the team. After a short time there, he moved to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia in 2009.
He returned to Fluminense on loan for a short period. In 2011, he came back to Brazil to play for Flamengo. In 2012, he rejoined Fluminense again. That season, his team had a fantastic year and won three trophies.
In 2013, Thiago Neves went back to Al-Hilal. He then moved to Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates in 2016. He spent almost four years playing in the Middle East.
Returning to Brazil and Later Clubs
On January 5, 2017, Thiago Neves signed with Cruzeiro in Brazil. He was a very important player for Cruzeiro. He helped them win the Copa do Brasil in both 2017 and 2018. During this time, he played some of his best football. He scored 17 goals in 2017 and 15 goals in 2018.
After leaving Cruzeiro, he played for Grêmio in 2020. Later that year, he joined Sport Recife. He played for Sport Recife until his contract ended in 2021.

Playing for Brazil
Thiago Neves also had the honor of playing for his country, Brazil. He made his first international appearance in a friendly match against Sweden on March 26, 2008.
Later in 2008, he was chosen to play for the Brazil U23 team in the 2008 Summer Olympics. In a match against China, he scored two goals, helping Brazil win 3-0. Brazil went on to win the bronze medal at the Olympics that year.
He was also called up for the Superclásico de las Américas tournaments in 2011 and 2012. These are special matches played between the national teams of Brazil and Argentina.
