Thiago Neves Augusto (born on February 27, 1985) is a Brazilian former professional footballer. He played as an attacking midfielder, which means he helped create scoring chances for his team.

Thiago Neves's Football Journey
Thiago Neves started his professional football career at age 20. He was born in Curitiba, Brazil. His first team was Paraná.
Playing in Japan and Brazil
Thiago's skills quickly caught attention. In 2006, he went to Japan to play for Vegalta Sendai on loan. After that, in 2007, he joined Fluminense in Brazil, also on loan. He played so well, scoring 14 goals, that Fluminense decided to sign him permanently. With Fluminense, he won his first major title, the Copa do Brasil.
Copa Libertadores Final
In 2008, Thiago Neves played a big role in the Copa Libertadores tournament. He scored seven goals in 13 matches. In the final, he even scored three goals in one game! However, his team, Fluminense, lost the final in a penalty shootout. Thiago Neves missed his penalty kick in that shootout.
Moving to Europe and the Middle East
In August 2008, Thiago Neves moved to Germany to play for Hamburger SV. He was seen as a replacement for a famous player, Rafael van der Vaart. But he only played nine games there.
In January 2009, he moved to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Soon after, he returned to Fluminense on loan.
Returning to Brazil and Winning Titles
Thiago Neves came back to Brazil in 2011 to play for Flamengo. In 2012, he rejoined Fluminense. That year was very successful for him and the club. They won three trophies!
In 2013, he was sold back to Al-Hilal. Then, in 2016, he moved to Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates.
After almost four years playing in the Middle East, Thiago Neves returned to Brazil in 2017. He joined Cruzeiro. He was a key player for Cruzeiro, helping them win the Copa do Brasil in both 2017 and 2018. He scored many goals during this time, showing some of his best football.
Later Career Teams
In 2020, Thiago Neves joined Grêmio. However, after playing 14 matches, his contract was ended. Later that year, he joined Sport Recife, but his contract there also ended after about a year.

Olympic Games Success
He made his first international appearance for the main Brazilian team in a friendly game in March 2008. Later that year, he was chosen to play for the Brazil Under-23 team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
In a match against China, he scored two goals, helping Brazil win 3-0. Brazil ended up winning the bronze medal in the tournament, which is a great achievement!
Other International Appearances
Thiago Neves was considered for the 2011 Copa América squad, but he didn't make the final team. He also played in the Superclásico de las Américas matches in 2011 and 2012. These are special games played between Brazil and Argentina.
