Thomasin McKenzie (born July 26, 2000) is a talented actress from New Zealand. She started acting in 2012 and has become well-known for her roles in many movies and TV shows.
She first gained attention for her role in the drama film Leave No Trace (2018). In this movie, she played a young girl living in the wilderness with her father. Her performance was highly praised, and she even won an award for it!
Later, Thomasin appeared in popular films like Jojo Rabbit (2019), where she played a Jewish girl hiding during World War II. She also starred in the thriller Old (2021) and the spooky film Last Night in Soho (2021). More recently, she played the main character in the thriller Eileen (2023) and a scientist named Jean Purdy in the movie Joy (2024).

Thomasin McKenzie was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on July 26, 2000. She went to Samuel Marsden Collegiate School in Wellington and finished school in 2018.
Acting runs in her family! Her mother, Dame Miranda Harcourt, is an actress and acting coach. Her father, Stuart McKenzie, is a director. Thomasin's grandmother, Dame Kate Harcourt, is also a famous actress. Her family also started a real estate company called Harcourts International in Wellington. Thomasin has an older brother and a younger sister.
Acting Career
Thomasin's acting journey began when she appeared with her brother in the film Existence (2012). She then played a teenager named Louise Nicholas in a TV movie called Consent: The Louise Nicholas Story (2014). In 2015, she had a role as Pixie Hannah in the TV show Shortland Street. The next year, she was the main character in a children's comedy web series called Lucy Lewis Can't Lose.
Her big breakthrough came with the movie Leave No Trace (2018). In this film, she played a girl named Tom, who lives off the grid with her father, a war veteran. Critics loved her performance, and she won the National Board of Review Award for Breakthrough Performance.
In 2019, Thomasin joined the cast of the Netflix movie The King, playing Queen Philippa of Denmark. She acted alongside stars like Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson. She also played a young Jewish girl named Elsa Korr in the movie Jojo Rabbit (2019). For this role, she was nominated for a Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Young Actress.
In 2021, Thomasin starred in the thriller Old, directed by M. Night Shyamalan. She also played the main character, Eloise "Ellie" Turner, in the psychological horror film Last Night in Soho, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy. That same year, she was in the western film The Power of the Dog. She also joined the TV series Life After Life for BBC Two, which came out in 2022.
