Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson (born 13 May 1986) is a famous English actor. He is known for acting in big movies and smaller, independent films. Robert is one of the highest-paid actors in the world. In 2010, Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people. He was also on the Forbes list of top celebrities.
Robert grew up in Barnes, London, England. He started acting at age fifteen in a London theater group. He had small roles early on, like in Vanity Fair (2004). He became well-known as Cedric Diggory in the fantasy film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005).
Pattinson became famous worldwide as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga movies (2008–2012). These movies earned over $3.3 billion around the world! Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson was born in Barnes, London, England, on 13 May 1986. His father, Richard, had a business importing cars from the United States. His mother, Clare, worked at a modeling agency. Robert has two older sisters, Victoria and Elizabeth. Their family lived in a large Victorian house.
At age four, Robert started attending Tower House School. He became interested in playing the piano and guitar. By age six, he was performing in school plays. He got his first role in a play called Spell for a Rhyme. He also appeared in his school's play of Lord of the Flies.
When he was ten, Robert started delivering newspapers. He earned about £10 each week. As a child, Robert was "untidy" and often didn't do his homework. His sisters sometimes dressed him up as a girl named Claudia. In his free time, he loved playing football, computer games, and watching TV shows. His favorites included Sharky and George and Doctor Who.
His parents later sent him to the Harrodian School. There, Robert was very good at English, which was his favorite subject. As a teenager, he worked as a photo model for British fashion brands. In 2014, a Russian astronomer named an asteroid he discovered after Robert Pattinson. It is called 246789 Pattinson.
