The Thomas–Webster Estate is a special historical place located in Marshfield, Massachusetts. It was once owned by a very important American politician named Daniel Webster. He was famous for his work as a statesman, which means he helped guide the country. Daniel Webster owned a huge farm here, more than 1,000 acres! He is also buried at this estate with his family members.

Daniel Webster's Historic Farm

The main part of the estate was a farm that Daniel Webster bought in 1832. He purchased it from Nathaniel Thomas. Daniel Webster was very interested in how farms worked. He loved learning about new ways to grow crops and raise animals. He used his knowledge to make his farm one of the best and most productive in the area.

The Webster Family Home

The original house on the property, where Daniel Webster lived, unfortunately burned down in 1878. However, a new house was built right on top of the old foundations. This means the new house stands exactly where the historic one once did. The estate still has many parts of the landscape that Daniel Webster himself designed.

Daniel Webster's Law Office

You can also find the spot where Daniel Webster's small law office building once stood. This was where he worked on legal cases during his lifetime. The actual building is no longer on the estate. It was moved in 1966 to the property of the Isaac Winslow House. That house is also a museum, so you can still visit Daniel Webster's law office there today. It is now a National Historic Landmark.

A Place for Learning and History

For many years, from the 1950s until 1998, a summer camp was run at the Thomas–Webster Estate. The main house served as the office for the camp. Kids would come here to enjoy summer activities.

The Estate Today

The Thomas–Webster Estate was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. This means it is recognized as an important historical site. Today, the town of Marshfield owns the estate. It is open for tours during the summer months, so people can visit and learn about its rich history.
