Thrall is a small city located in Williamson County, Texas, United States. In 2020, about 816 people lived there. The city was named after Reverend Homer S. Thrall. He was a respected Methodist minister and historian. Local settlers and residents admired him greatly. Thrall was founded in 1876.

The Great Thrall Flood of 1921
A major historical event for Thrall was a severe flood in 1921. From September 7 to 10, the remains of a hurricane moved over Williamson County. The storm stayed over Thrall for a long time. It dropped a huge amount of rain.
About 39.7 inches of rain fell in just 36 hours. This caused terrible flooding. In Thrall, 23.4 inches of rain fell in 6 hours. It was 31.8 inches in 12 hours. And 36.4 inches in 18 hours. This storm caused the deadliest floods in Texas history. A total of 215 people lost their lives. Eighty-seven people drowned in nearby Taylor. Another 93 people died in Williamson County.
