History of Three Points
Three Points is also known as Robles Junction. It was started in 1882 by a man named Bernabe S. Robles. He was born in Mexico in 1857.
How Robles Junction Started
Bernabe's family moved to Tucson when he was young. Later, he became a mail carrier. He delivered mail to a place called Gunsight, near Ajo. While looking for a shorter way to deliver mail, he found a pass near Cat Mountain. This pass is now called Robles Pass.
In 1882, Bernabe and his brother Jesús started a small settlement. They built a well to create a watering stop for horses. It also became a stage station, a place where people traveling by stagecoach could rest. This spot was called the Robles Ranch.
The Robles Ranch Today
Bernabe eventually stopped being a mail carrier. He moved to the Robles Ranch with his family. They ran the ranch for many years. Bernabe Robles passed away in 1945. Today, the old ranch house is used as the Three Points/Robles Junction Community Center.
