The name Tibbie comes from a much longer word in the Choctaw language. The original Choctaw word was "oakibbeha."
This word means "blocks of ice therein." Okti means "ice," and abeha is a word that means "to be in" something.
A Special Dog Breed
A special type of dog, called the Red Alabama Blackmouth Cur, is thought to have started in the Tibbie area. This happened around the 1940s.
