Tig Notaro's great-great-grandfather was John Fitzpatrick. He was the mayor of New Orleans from 1892 to 1896. On a TV show called Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Tig learned she is also a distant cousin of the famous writer Gloria Steinem.
Tig found school challenging and left high school early. In 1990, she earned her GED. This is a certificate that shows you have the same knowledge as a high school graduate.
