The Tijuana Metropolitan Area, also known as Zona Metropolitana de Tijuana in Spanish, is a large city area in Mexico. It is located right by the Pacific Ocean. In 2010, this area was the fifth largest in Mexico by population. It had about 1,751,302 people living there.
This metropolitan area includes three main parts. These parts are the Tijuana, Tecate, and Rosarito Beach areas. People often also include the wider Tecate Municipality in this area. This is because the cities of Tijuana and Tecate are growing closer together. Many people travel between them for work. This also helps the southern parts of the San Diego–Tijuana region grow. The three main areas work closely together.
