Tilman Valentin Schweiger (born 19 December 1963) is a German actor and filmmaker. He became famous in the 1990s for movies like Manta, Manta and Knockin' on Heaven's Door. He also starred in international films such as Inglourious Basterds.
Til Schweiger started his own movie company called Barefoot Films. He has directed, produced, and acted in many popular German movies. Some of these include Rabbit Without Ears, Kokowääh, and Head Full of Honey. These movies were very successful, making him one of Germany's most popular filmmakers.

Til Schweiger's Early Life
Til Schweiger was born in Freiburg, West Germany. His parents were both teachers. He grew up in a town called Heuchelheim in Hesse.
After school, he took acting classes in Cologne. He finished his acting training in 1989.
Til Schweiger's Acting and Directing Career
Til Schweiger started producing and directing movies in 1997. His first movie as a producer and director was Knockin' on Heaven's Door. He also directed and produced Der Eisbär in 1998.
In 2005, he won a Bambi Award for his movie Barfuss (Barefoot). He helped write, directed, and starred in this film. He also won a Bambi for his role in Traumschiff Surprise – Periode 1.
Popular Movies Directed by Til Schweiger
In 2007, Til Schweiger's movie Keinohrhasen (which means Rabbit Without Ears) became a huge hit in Germany. It earned a lot of money and won many awards. These awards included a Bambi, a Bavarian Film Award, and the German Comedy Award.
The next year, he released the sequel, Zweiohrküken (Rabbit Without Ears 2). This movie was also very popular, with millions of viewers. In 2008, he directed, produced, and starred in 1½ Knights – In Search of the Ravishing Princess Herzelinde, which was another big success.
His movie Kokowääh came out in 2011. His daughter, Emma, starred alongside him in this film. He also directed, co-wrote, and produced it. Til and Emma Schweiger returned for the sequel, Kokowääh 2, in 2013. In 2012, he made the movie Schutzengel with his daughter Luna.

Til Schweiger first appeared as an actor in 1989 in the TV series Lindenstraße. His first movie role was in 1991 in Manta, Manta. He then acted in many other TV shows and movies.
He has also appeared in American movies. Some of these include King Arthur, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life, and New Year's Eve.
In 2009, he played a role in the movie Inglourious Basterds. The director, Quentin Tarantino, said that Til Schweiger's character only wore a Nazi uniform because he was fighting against Nazis.
More recently, he appeared in This Means War (2012) with Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon. He was also in Muppets Most Wanted (2014) and Atomic Blonde (2017). In 2024, he appeared in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
In November 2024, Til Schweiger helped film a video about drift racing in Minsk, Belarus.
Til Schweiger's Family Life
Til Schweiger married American model Dana Carlsen in 1995. They have four children:

Til Schweiger and Dana Carlsen separated in 2005 and later divorced in 2014.
