Local people in Kushtia say that a group called the Teli community invented this sweet. They were the first to create this delicious sesame seed candy.
After 1971, a factory opened in Charmilpara, Kushtia, just to make Tiler Khaja. This helped more people enjoy this traditional sweet!

How Tiler Khaja is Made
Making Tiler Khaja is a cool process! First, sugar, water, and milk are mixed together in a big pot. This mixture is boiled for about ten to twelve minutes. Boiling helps the sugar melt and mix well with the other ingredients.
Next, this hot, sweet mixture is carefully poured out of the pot. It needs to cool down. As it cools, it becomes a sticky, thick paste.
Then, two people work together to pull and stretch this sticky sugar paste. They keep pulling it for a few minutes. As they pull, the inside of the candy gets bigger and becomes hollow. The color also changes to white. This pulling process is what gives Tiler Khaja its special texture and look!
