Black Magic Tim, whose real name is Timothy Malcom Wilson, is an American filmmaker. He is known for directing, filming, and editing many different types of productions. These include music videos, commercials, and independent movies. He has worked with big names like Blackground Records and Tommy Boy Entertainment.
Tim Wilson has also created special videos called EPKs (Electronic Press Kits) for famous artists and authors. Some of these include "Naughty by Nature", "Tank (American singer)", "Kimberly Scott (singer)", and motivational speaker "Valorie Burton". He has won awards and been nominated at film festivals for his short science fiction film, "Apple Crumb Panic".
He is also famous for improving the quality of movies made in Nollywood USA. Nollywood is the Nigerian film industry, and Nollywood USA refers to films made by Nigerians in the United States. His movie, Paparazzi: Eye in the Dark, was shown in theaters across the United States. Tim Wilson was the cinematographer (the person who films the movie) and editor for this film. He believes Nollywood is becoming a new "Black Hollywood." In 2013, he also worked as cinematographer and editor on another award-winning Nollywood film, One Night in Vegas. In 2014, he was the cinematographer for the Nollywood film Busted Life.
Tim Wilson studied film at Howard University under Haile Gerima. After graduating, he started his first film company, "Black Magic Cinemaworks," in Washington, D.C., with three other Howard University graduates. He is skilled in filming with different types of cameras, including 35mm, 16mm, and HD cameras. He is also an expert in creating visual digital effects.
