What is Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made About?
Imagine a world where imaginary friends live alongside people! Timmy Failure is an 11-year-old boy who lives in Portland, Oregon, with his mom, Patty. Timmy runs his own detective agency called Total Failure Inc. He loves to "solve" mysteries.
Timmy's Detective Agency and Friends
Timmy's adventures often involve him and his imaginary polar bear partner, Total. Total might be a way for Timmy to deal with his dad leaving. They travel around the city looking for cases. Timmy also tries to outsmart the "Russians," who are actually just bearded hipsters.
Timmy has a best friend named Charles "Rollo" Tookus. Rollo used to be part of Total Failure Inc. but left after a mission went wrong. There's also Molly Moskins, a cheerful and hopeful girl who likes Timmy. Timmy thinks a girl named Corrina Corrina is his biggest enemy. But she is actually very kind to him. It seems Timmy might have secret feelings for her.
The Case of the Missing Segway
One day, Timmy is getting a dead hamster from a classmate. His Failure-Mobile, which is actually his mom's Segway, gets stolen! Timmy stops all his other cases. He asks Rollo to help him. Rollo thinks the stolen Segway and the dead hamster are connected to the "Russians."
At the library, Molly tells Timmy that Corrina Corrina is partly Russian. Timmy then believes Corrina stole the Segway to shut down his agency. Timmy starts seeing the school counselor, Mr. Jenkins, because of his strange behavior in class. Timmy slowly begins to trust Mr. Jenkins with his detective mission.
Timmy also finds out his mom, Patty, is dating Crispin. Crispin is a friendly meter maid. Timmy doesn't like him because he "doesn't work with law enforcement."
Chasing Clues and Making Mistakes
Timmy learns that Corrina Corrina's dad owns a bank. He thinks his Segway is there. Timmy and Rollo try to sneak in but security kicks them out. Mr. Jenkins gets Timmy to do his homework as a "mission." While doing homework, Timmy learns from Patty that they have to move to an apartment. This upsets Timmy because he has a "heavy caseload."
On a school trip to Bonneville Dam, Timmy wrongly thinks Corrina Corrina plans to turn off power to all of Portland. He doesn't realize she's still with their group. Timmy rushes through the dam to find her. His teacher, Mr. Crocus, chases him. They end up outside the dam just as the floodgates open.
Timmy tries to protect Mr. Crocus from the flood. He sees Crocus as smart like him. But it turns out they are high above the floodgates. Timmy gets a three-day suspension for his actions. Mr. Crocus quits his job and a new teacher takes over. Patty is very angry. She tells Timmy she was fired because she had to stay home with him. She also shuts down Total Failure Inc.
Sad about having to be "normal" and move, Timmy lets Total go at the zoo.
Learning from Mistakes
Mr. Jenkins talks to Timmy. He reminds Timmy that he needs to learn from his mistakes to become a better person. Timmy feels inspired after finding a "Russian bug" in his cookie. He asks Crispin to help him get Total back from the zoo.
As they drive back, they see someone snatch a purse. Crispin chases and catches the thief. Timmy thinks about helping but decides to just call the police. A person asks Timmy and Total to move, showing they can see Total. Timmy then accidentally backs his truck into a pole.
Patty comes to see Timmy in the hospital. Timmy says sorry for how he acted. Patty tells Timmy she wants him to open his detective agency again. Soon after, Crispin shows Timmy that the Segway was at the police station all along. It was impounded for being parked illegally. This makes Timmy think the police are working with the "Russians."
Timmy gives a speech at an animal fundraiser organized by Molly. He excites the crowd by talking about letting polar bears into school. Timmy wishes Mr. Crocus could be there. Suddenly, he believes Crocus was kidnapped by Corrina Corrina and the "Russians." Timmy and Total set off to "rescue" him!
