Timoteo Briet Montaud (born March 3, 1859, in Cocentaina; died January 30, 1925, in Alcoy) was a famous Spanish architect. He was one of the most important designers of the Art Nouveau style in Alcoy and the Valencian Community.
About Timoteo Briet Montaud
Timoteo Briet Montaud completed his early studies in 1876 at Alcoy's Industrial Elementary School. He then continued his education in Barcelona. Between 1882 and 1883, he studied at the Barcelona Official School of Fine Arts. Later, in 1890, he finished his architecture degree at the Barcelona School of Architecture.
In 1893, Timoteo Briet married Maria Valor Boronat. His career took a big step forward in 1902. He won a public competition and became the official municipal architect of Alcoy.
His Architectural Style
Timoteo Briet's Art Nouveau style was special. It was very neat and formal. It showed a strong influence from the Austrian Art Nouveau movement called Secession. You can see this influence in all his Art Nouveau buildings.
During his career, he designed and worked on more than 40 buildings. Almost all of these projects were in Alcoy. He passed away in Alcoy in 1925.
