Tino di Geraldo was born in Toulouse, France, in 1960. His parents were from Asturias, a region in Spain. He spent his childhood in France.
Early Music Life
Tino first learned to play classical and jazz percussion. Later, when he was a young man in Madrid, he started playing flamenco music. He met a musician named Diego Carrasco who needed a percussionist, and that's how Tino began his journey in flamenco.
Working with Other Musicians
Tino has worked with many famous musicians in flamenco and Latin music. Some of these include Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, Chano Domínguez, Carlos Núñez, Raimundo Amador, Niña Pastori, and Manolo Sanlúcar.
He has also worked with musicians from outside Spain. He played with French-Vietnamese jazz guitarist Nguyen Le. Tino also worked with American folk musician Jackson Browne. He played on and helped produce Jackson Browne's live album Love Is Strange: En Vivo Con Tino. He also played on the song "These Days" and toured with Jackson Browne starting in 2006. Tino also played on Paco de Lucia's album Luzia in 1998.
Music Groups and Albums
Tino di Geraldo formed a music group with Carles Benavent and Jorge Pardo. Both of these musicians also played with Paco de Lucia. Their group toured in 1998 and again in 2007–2008. Tino played percussion on Jorge Pardo's album 2332 and on Moraíto's album Aire.
In 2003, Tino released his own album called Tino. It took him three years to finish this album, and it had only one flamenco song. Besides playing, Tino has also produced albums for other artists like Luz Casal, Diego Carrasco, Elbicho, Jazzpaña, and Tomasito.
