Tiny Wings is a fun mobile game for Apple devices like iPhones and iPads. It was created by a German game maker named Andreas Illiger and first came out on February 18, 2011.

How to Play Tiny Wings

In Tiny Wings, you control a cute bird whose wings are too small to fly high. Your main goal is to use hills to gain speed and fly as far as you can!

Mastering the Hills

To play, you tap and hold the screen. This makes your bird dive down. The trick is to tap at the right time. You want to dive down the hills to pick up speed. Then, you let go of the screen as you go up the next hill. This launches your bird into the air! The better your timing, the faster and higher you'll fly.

Exploring Islands and Goals

The game has a "Day Trip" mode with many different islands. These islands change their look and layout every 24 hours, so each day feels fresh! As you play, you'll find special goals to complete. When you reach these goals, you can upgrade your bird's nest. Upgrading your nest gives you a score multiplier, like getting double points! These goals might ask you to reach certain islands or do cool tricks a number of times in one game.

Flight School Mode

"Flight School" is a special game mode added in version 2.0. In this mode, you race against three other young birds. These birds are your siblings!

Meet the Birds

You can choose which bird you want to control. The other birds are controlled by the computer. Here are the birds you can race with:

  • Flami – a pink bird
  • Peck – a blue bird
  • Peli – an orange bird
  • Owell – a green bird

You can even change their names if you want!

Racing to Mama Bird

The main goal in Flight School is to be the first to reach the "mama bird." If you win the race, your bird gets the biggest fish! To unlock new islands and keep playing, you need to finish in at least 3rd place.

  • If you get 3rd place, you earn a small blue fish.
  • If you get 2nd place, you get a medium-sized cyan fish.
  • If you finish 1st, you get the biggest yellow fish!

When one of your birds completes a set of islands, its nest gets an upgrade, just like in the Day Trip mode.

New Features in Flight School

This mode also adds some fun new things to the islands:

  • Rubber flowers: Your bird can bounce high off these flowers.
  • Water holes: Be careful! These puddles will slow your bird down.

The mama bird is dark green and also appears in the Day Trip mode. Not all levels in Flight School are sunny daytime levels. Some levels, like 1-3, 2-3, and 3-4, are nighttime levels. They even have different music than the daytime levels!

Game Release and Updates

Tiny Wings first came out with just one game mode, which was later called "Day Trip."

Version 2 Update

A big update, version 2, was released on July 12, 2012. This update added the exciting new "Flight School" mode. In Flight School, you race against three other birds. The levels in Flight School are divided into islands, with five tracks on each. There are three main island themes: Clown islands, Koi islands, and Orga islands. More island tracks are planned for future updates! The July 2012 update also made it possible to "gift" the app to friends.

HD Version

At the same time as version 2, an HD (High Definition) version of Tiny Wings was released. This version included a third game chapter called "Hill Party."
