Titus Corlățean (born January 11, 1968) is a Romanian politician and diplomat. He has served as the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). He was first elected to the Chamber of Deputies for Brașov County in 2004.

Early Life and Education
Titus Corlățean was born in Medgidia, a town in Romania. He studied law at the University of Bucharest, graduating in 1994. He also received a special certificate from a famous school in Paris, France, called the École Nationale d'Administration in 1995.
Diplomatic Career
From 1994 to 2001, Corlățean worked as a diplomat for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A diplomat represents their country in other nations.
Later, from 2001 to 2003, he worked for the Prime Minister, Adrian Năstase. He advised the Prime Minister on foreign policy. After 2003, he became a Secretary of State for Romanians living abroad, also known as the Romanian diaspora.
Political Career
Titus Corlățean joined the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in 2002. He became a spokesperson for the party after 2004.
Member of the European Parliament
On January 1, 2007, Romania joined the European Union. Because of this, Titus Corlățean became a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Later that year, he was officially elected to this role. As an MEP, he worked on legal matters and was even a vice-chair of a committee. He left this role in 2008 when he was elected back to the Romanian Parliament.
Roles in the Romanian Government
In 2012, he was elected as a Senator for Bucharest. He then served in the government of Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
- From May to August 2012, he was the Minister of Justice. This role involves overseeing the country's legal system.
- From August 2012 to November 2014, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs. This means he was in charge of Romania's relationships with other countries.
He resigned from his role as Foreign Minister in 2014. This happened after some people were upset that there were not enough places for Romanians living abroad to vote in the presidential election.
International Work
Besides his work in the Romanian Parliament, Corlățean has been part of the Romanian team at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. This is an important international group that works on democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
In this Assembly, he has worked on many important topics. He has helped monitor how well countries follow their agreements. He has also been a special reporter on topics like Georgia and the investigation into the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. In 2019, he became the main reporter for the Assembly on ending the death penalty worldwide.
