Tjako van Schie is a talented musician from the Netherlands. He was born on April 17, 1961, in a town called Coevorden. Tjako's Musical Journey
Tjako van Schie has traveled a lot for his music. Since 1999, he has been a guest professor at the conservatory in Porto, Portugal. This means he teaches music to students there.
Touring the World
In 2001, Tjako went on a big tour to the People's Republic of China. In the same year, he also toured in his home country, the Netherlands, and in Portugal. For these tours, he played with a group called the Orquestra Portuguesa de Saxofones. This group is also known as Vento do Norte, which means "North Wind".
Composing and Arranging Music
Besides playing the piano, Tjako van Schie also writes his own music. He creates pieces for many different musical groups. He also takes old music and changes it so new instruments can play it. For example, he changed some music by the famous composer Robert Schumann so it could be played by a piano and a saxophone group.

- "Shtil di nakht iz oysgeshternt" (which means "The silent night is filled with stars") – This album features Yiddish music from difficult times. It was first released in 1995 and then again in 2005. Tjako played the piano, and Adriaan Stoet played the violin.
- "Water bron van leven" (meaning "Water source of life") – This 1998 album has piano music about the theme of water. It includes four of Tjako's own songs and a piano version of Bedřich Smetana's The Moldau.
- "Akoestisch signaal" – with the Dutch Police Choir of Drenthe (1996)
- "Die Geigen, ja die Geigen!" (meaning "The violins, yes the violins!") – This 2008 album features music by various composers, with Adriaan Stoet on violin and Tjako van Schie on piano.
- "A Bag of Music" – This is a three-CD set from 2011. It includes "Vocalise", "Petite Fleur", and "Wonderful World". Tjako played with baritone saxophone player Henk van Twillert.
