Toa Baja barrio-pueblo is a special part of Toa Baja, a town in Puerto Rico. It's like the main town center. This area is also the place where the local government is located. In 2010, about 565 people lived here.
Just like in Spain, many towns in Puerto Rico have a special area called a pueblo. This area usually has a main square, the town hall, and a Catholic church. Every year, fun festivals called Fiestas Patronales (patron saint festivals) happen in this main square.

The Main Square and Its Church
The main square in Toa Baja barrio-pueblo is a fun place. People gather there for events and to hang out from morning until night. Old Spanish laws from the 1800s said that these squares should be big enough for celebrations. They also said that nearby streets should have covered walkways. These walkways would protect people from the sun and rain.
Right across from the main square is the Parroquia San Pedro Apostol. This is a Roman Catholic church. It's a very old and important church. It is even listed on the US National Register of Historic Places.
A Look at History
Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened because of the Treaty of Paris of 1898. In 1899, the United States government counted the people in Puerto Rico. They found that 1,300 people lived in Toa Baja Pueblo at that time.
