Toad Patrol is a Canadian animated TV show created by George and Peggy Sarson. It first aired on October 2, 1999, on Teletoon in Canada. Later, it also showed on Toon Disney in the United States starting September 7, 2002.

Even though the show was made for younger kids, many pre-teens and young adults also enjoyed it. This was because, despite its fun and light look, the show often had deeper, more serious themes. The idea for Toad Patrol began way back in 1985. The creators even sold special chocolates and cream pops to help raise money for the show!

Toad Patrol was animated in different countries. The first season was made in Korea by AKOM. For the second season, extra work was done in India by UTV Toons. Some animation work was also done in Canada at Funbag and Helix studios. The show was also popular in other languages. It was called La Petite Patrouille on French-language Télétoon and Patrulla de Sapitos on the Spanish-language TeleFutura. In Italy, it aired as La pattuglia dei ranocchi on Rai 2.

Discover the Story of Toad Patrol

The main story of Toad Patrol is about eight young "Toadlet" siblings. They are tiny toads who must survive in a huge place called The Great Forest.

The Ancients and Toad Hollow

Long ago, powerful and wise beings called the Ancients lived in the forest. They used a type of magic similar to shamanism. Legend says they created a safe place called Toad Hollow. They left many signs of their existence before disappearing. Now, for reasons unknown, all the toads in the forest must leave and move to Toad Hollow.

Toad Hollow is a giant, safe home for many toads. The only way to enter it is through a special gate called the Fairy Ring. If a toad misses the Fairy Ring before it closes, they turn into a toadstool! This magical gate appears in different parts of the forest each year.

The Toadlets' Journey Begins

The main characters of the show are young toadlets who were born late. This meant they missed the big migration to Toad Hollow. They didn't know what to do until a wise old toad named Mistle Toad found them. He told them about the Fairy Ring and how to find it. The problem is, its location changes every year.

Soon, they discover that Panther Cap, the youngest toadlet, has a special gift. He can hear what certain "Lightning Oaks" (which the toadlets call Thunder Trees) are saying. He can also use an acorn to connect with these trees using his mind.

Special Skills and New Friends

As the toadlets travel, each one develops a unique skill. They use these skills to help the group survive. On their journey, they also meet Earth Star. He is a young toadlet musician who was part of an earlier group that failed to find the Fairy Ring in time. Sadly, all his friends turned into toadstools.

The series has two seasons, with 13 episodes in each. The first season follows the toadlets as they search for the Fairy Ring. In the second season, after reaching Toad Hollow, Panther Cap hears Mistle Toad calling for help. He tells the others, and they set out on a new adventure to find and rescue him.

  • Good Day: The ice is melting, and Medea is a threat. Panther Cap makes a new friend, Artie the goose. Beauty Stem considers becoming a healer.
  • The Sacrifice: Panther Cap worries he's lost his powers. Puff Ball and Oyster meet Sigmund, the guardian of the toadstools. Earth Star makes a big sacrifice.
  • The Bridge: The toadlets continue their journey without Earth Star. They get help from old friends like Daphne and Barnaby.
  • Journey's End: In the final episode, friends and enemies appear. The toadlets race to play the instruments to save the toadstools. They find a broken instrument but find a way to finish their quest.
