About TG4
How the Group Started
The music producer Chris Stokes put the group together. They signed a music deal with T.U.G. Entertainment. Chris Stokes was also their manager. Sevyn Streeter (Ambee) was the first member chosen. She got her spot after performing at a concert in Orlando, Florida, in early 2001. Davida, Ashley, and Keisha joined after successful tryouts.
The name TG4 means "Tomgirls 4." Sevyn explained the name. She said, "We're like four Tom Girls." She added that a "tomboy" is a girl who acts like a boy. She said, "We're girls and we act like guys but love being girls, so we're tom girls."
Their Songs and Album
TG4's most famous song was "Virginity." It came out in 2002. This song reached number 88 on the US R&B music chart. Their second song was "2 Minutes." They even made a music video for it. However, "2 Minutes" did not appear on any music charts.
The group later left their first record label. Their album, called Time for the New, was never officially released. Davida Williams then left the group. She wanted to focus on her acting career. The remaining members changed the group's name to Tomgirls 4 Eva. They signed with a new company called Soul Chemistry. Soon after, the group broke up.
Live Shows and Videos
TG4 performed on the TV show Soul Train. They also joined the Scream II tour. On this tour, they performed with popular artists like Lil' Bow Wow and B2K. The group also appeared in music videos for other artists. They were in IMx's "Ain't No Need" video. They also appeared in B2K's "Why I Love You" video.
What Happened Next?
After TG4 broke up, the members went their separate ways. Davida Williams focused on her acting career. Keisha Henry appeared on a reality TV show. It was called Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious.
Sevyn Streeter continued her music journey. A producer named Rich Harrison found her online. She signed with his record label in 2007. She became part of a new girl group called RichGirl. This group released a mixtape called Fall in Love with RichGirl in 2011. The group later broke up. Sevyn then signed with Chris Brown's music company in 2012. She started her solo music career.
