Tommie L. Pierson Jr., born in 1973, is an American pastor and politician. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. He represented the 66th district, which includes parts of St. Louis County and the city of St. Louis.
Early Life and Education
Tommie Pierson Jr. is the son of Tommie Pierson Sr.. His father was also a state representative. Tommie Jr. finished high school at Parkway North High School in 1991.
He then attended Washington University in St. Louis, graduating in 1995. In 2009, he earned a Master of Arts degree from Covenant Theological Seminary.
Political Career
Tommie Pierson Jr. is the pastor of the InStep Church in St. Charles, Missouri. He also has an important career in politics.
When his father decided not to run for his legislative seat again, Tommie Jr. decided to run for it. He won the primary election against two other Democratic candidates. Then, he won the general election against a Republican opponent.
In 2019, his fellow Democratic members in the Missouri House of Representatives chose him for a leadership role. He became the assistant floor leader for the Democratic party.
Personal Life
Tommie Pierson Jr. is married to Zorata Pierson. They have three children together. Their children's names are Tamia, Carlton, and Thaddeus.
