Tommie Pierson Jr. is the son of Tommie Pierson Sr.. His father was also a state representative. Tommie Jr. finished high school in 1991. He went to Parkway North High School.
After high school, he attended Washington University in St. Louis. He graduated from there in 1995. Later, in 2009, he earned a Master of Arts degree. He received this degree from Covenant Theological Seminary.
