Tony Allcock is a famous English bowls player. He was born in Leicestershire, England, in 1955. Many people think he is one of the best bowls players ever. He won many world championships, both outdoors and indoors. He even won the world outdoor singles title twice and the world indoor singles title three times!

Tony Allcock's Bowls Career
Tony Allcock had a very successful career in bowls. He won many medals in different types of competitions. These include outdoor championships, indoor championships, and the Commonwealth Games.
World Outdoor Championships
Tony Allcock won his first two gold medals at the 1980 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Melbourne, Australia. He won in the team event and in the triples competition. Four years later, he won another gold medal in the fours event at the 1984 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Aberdeen. He also got a silver medal in the pairs that year.
In 1988, at the 1988 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Auckland, New Zealand, he won three more medals. This included another gold in the team event. Tony then went on to win two gold medals in the singles competition. These were at the 1992 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Worthing, England, and the 1996 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Adelaide, Australia. In total, he has won seventeen world titles, combining his outdoor and indoor wins.
Commonwealth Games Achievements
Tony Allcock played in three Commonwealth Games: in 1990, 1994, and 1998. These games are a big sports event for countries that were once part of the British Empire. He won a silver medal in the singles event at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada.
Later, Tony became the performance coach for the England bowls team. This was for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. He is now the Chief Executive of Bowls England, which is the main organization for bowls in England.
World Indoor Championships
Tony Allcock was also very successful in indoor bowls. He won the singles title three times at the World Indoor Bowls Championships. These wins were in 1986, 1987, and 2002.
He also won the pairs championship eight times. Six of these wins were with his famous partner, David Bryant. Their pairs victories were in 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1992. He won two more pairs titles with different partners in 1997 and 2003.
National and British Isles Titles
Tony Allcock has won eight National Championship titles in England. He won singles titles in 1990 and 1991. He also won triples titles in 1990 and 1995, and a fours title in 1994. When he was younger, he won the junior singles three times: in 1975, 1977, and 1981. He played for Belgrave BC and later for Cheltenham BC.
He also won the singles title at the British Isles Bowls Championships in 1992. This competition brings together champions from across the British Isles.
Life Outside of Bowls
Tony Allcock is currently the chief executive of Bowls England. This means he helps run the sport in England. He has been recognized for his great contributions to bowls. He was first appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1989. Later, in 2019, he was promoted to Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). These are special awards given by the Queen for important achievements.
Tony Allcock has also shared his knowledge of bowls by writing several books and creating instructional videos about the sport.
