Tony Loranzo Jeffery, born on July 9, 1964, is a former American football player. He played as a running back for the Phoenix Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL). He was chosen by the Cardinals in the 1988 NFL draft. Before that, he played college football for the TCU Horned Frogs. Tony Jeffery also played for the New York/New Jersey Knights in the World League of American Football.

College Football Career

Tony Jeffery played college football for the TCU Horned Frogs. This team is part of Texas Christian University. He played for four years, from 1984 to 1987.

Freshman Year (1984)

As a freshman in 1984, Tony ran the ball 165 times. He gained 840 yards and scored nine touchdowns. He also caught six passes for 39 yards.

Sophomore and Junior Years (1985-1986)

In 1985, he carried the ball 176 times for 695 yards. He scored four touchdowns. He also caught 17 passes for 229 yards and one touchdown.

As a junior in 1986, Tony ran for 861 yards and eight touchdowns. He gained 7.1 yards every time he ran the ball. This was the best in the Southwest Conference (SWC) that year.

Senior Year (1987)

In his senior year, 1987, Tony had an amazing season. He ran for 1,353 yards and scored ten touchdowns. He also caught 17 passes for 257 yards. His 1,353 rushing yards were the most in the SWC that year. He was named to the second-team All-SWC.

Tony Jeffery's total of 3,749 rushing yards in his college career was the second-highest in TCU history at that time. In 2019, he was honored by being added to the school's athletics hall of fame.

Professional Football Career

Tony Jeffery was chosen by the Phoenix Cardinals in the 1988 NFL draft. He was the 38th player picked overall. He officially joined the team on July 11, 1988.

Playing for the Cardinals

During the 1988 season, Tony played in three games for the Cardinals. He ran the ball three times for eight yards. He also returned one kick for 11 yards. He left the team on September 5, 1989.

Other Teams

Tony Jeffery later signed with the San Francisco 49ers on May 4, 1990. He was with them for a few months before being released on August 27, 1990.
