Tony Mario Sylva, born on May 17, 1975, is a former professional football player from Senegal. He was a goalkeeper.
He played football for 16 years, mostly in France. He played 157 games in France's top league, Ligue 1, for teams like AS Monaco and Lille.
Tony Sylva also played for the Senegal national team. He was part of the team in the 2002 FIFA World Cup and four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. Today, he helps train goalkeepers for the Senegal national team. He became their coach in 2015, appointed by Aliou Cissé.

Tony Sylva's Club Career
Tony Sylva was born in Guédiawaye, Senegal. He spent almost ten years playing for AS Monaco FC. For much of that time, he played for their reserve team. He was a backup goalkeeper to famous players like Fabien Barthez and Flavio Roma.
He played his first top-league game on September 12, 1999. Monaco won the national championship that year, and Tony played in six games. Before leaving Monaco in 2004, he also played on loan for other teams. These teams included Gazélec Ajaccio, SAS Épinal, and AC Ajaccio. The last two teams played in Ligue 2, which is France's second division.
After leaving Monaco, Tony Sylva joined Lille OSC for free. He played at least 30 league games each year for four years with Lille. He helped his team finish second in the league during the 2004–05 Ligue 1 season.
Tony Sylva retired from football in June 2010 when he was 35 years old. His last two seasons were in Turkey with Trabzonspor.
Tony Sylva's International Career
Tony Sylva played 83 games for the Senegal national team over nine years. His first game was on June 6, 1999. It was a 2–2 draw against Burkina Faso during the qualifiers for the 2000 African Cup of Nations.
Tony Sylva was the main goalkeeper for Senegal in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He helped Senegal reach the quarter-finals in their very first appearance in the competition. This was a huge achievement for his country.
