Toonzai was a special block of cartoons that aired on Saturday mornings on The CW television channel. It started on August 14, 2010. Before that, it was known as The CW4Kids. This block was created by a company called 4Kids Entertainment. They were also in charge of another cartoon block called 4Kids TV that used to be on Fox.

4Kids Entertainment made sure that popular shows like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Sonic X were part of Toonzai. They also added Dragon Ball Z Kai, which was a new version of the classic Dragon Ball Z series. This show also aired on Nicktoons.

About Toonzai Shows

Most TV stations that showed The CW would air Toonzai on Saturday mornings. However, some stations, like WUPA-TV in Atlanta, chose to show the cartoons on Sundays instead. This often happened because these stations used to be part of a different network called UPN, which didn't have Saturday morning kids' shows.

Sometimes, stations would split the Toonzai block. For example, WCCT-TV in Hartford aired some of the shows on Saturday mornings and the rest on Sunday mornings. This allowed them to show their own local programs too.

One station, KMYS in San Antonio, aired Toonzai very early on Sunday and Monday mornings. This was because they had other shows, like infomercials and religious programs, that they needed to air on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This meant that kids who wanted to watch Toonzai on KMYS often had to record it to watch later!
