History of Torreblanca
Early Beginnings and Challenges
Torreblanca was first taken from the Saracens by King James I of Aragon in the 1200s. After this, new people came to live and build up the town. However, in 1379, the town faced a big challenge. It was attacked by Barbary corsairs, who were like pirates from North Africa. They raided the town and almost completely destroyed it.
Battles and Health Improvements
Later, in the 1800s, Torreblanca was again a place of conflict. There were many battles during the Carlist Wars, which were civil wars in Spain. These wars caused a lot of trouble for the people living there.
For a long time, there were wetlands near the sea close to the town. These areas sometimes caused health problems, like malaria. But by the mid-1900s, malaria was completely removed from the area, making it much safer and healthier for everyone.
Life in Torreblanca Today
Today, Torreblanca's main way of making money is through tourism. Many people visit during the summer months. The town has two main beaches: Platja de Torrenostra and Platja Nord. These beaches are still quite natural and not too crowded, which makes them very popular with visitors looking for a relaxing time by the sea.
Nearby Areas to Explore
Torreblanca is also close to Torrenostra, another lovely coastal area. Both places offer beautiful beaches and a chance to enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle. The natural beauty of the coast and nearby wetlands makes it a great place for outdoor activities.
