Toy Tinkers is a fun animated short film from 1949. Walt Disney Productions made it in Technicolor, which means it's in bright colors! It first came out in theaters on December 16, 1949.

This cartoon takes place at Christmas time. It's all about Chip 'n' Dale trying to sneak nuts from Donald Duck's house. They even use toy weapons in their sneaky plan!

Toy Tinkers was even nominated for a big award, an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, in 1950. However, it lost to another cartoon called For Scent-imental Reasons from Warner Bros..

Jack Hannah directed Toy Tinkers. The music was created by Paul J. Smith. You'll hear classic songs like "Jingle Bells" and "Marche Militaire". The voices include Clarence Nash as Donald Duck, and Jimmy MacDonald and Dessie Flynn as Chip and Dale.

This cartoon was also released later with a different name, Christmas Capers.

The Story: A Christmas Nut Battle!

The story begins when Chip and Dale see Donald Duck chopping down a tree near their log home. He wants it for his Christmas tree! The curious chipmunks follow Donald and the tree back to his house.

Through a window, they spot lots of yummy nuts and candy. They decide they must have them! They sneak into Donald's house through the mail slot. Then, they start loading the nuts into a toy truck.

Dale starts playing around, pretending to be in a make-believe neighborhood. Chip isn't happy about this and scolds him for not focusing on the nut mission. Donald soon spots them stealing his nuts! He decides to use the toys in his house to stop them.

When Chip and Dale realize Donald knows their plan, he tries a new trick. Donald dresses up as Santa Claus! He gives Chip a much bigger present than Dale. This makes Dale jealous, and they start fighting with each other.

Donald's plan works at first. He traps them inside a big nut using a toy handgun. Then, he crashes them in a toy police car. Donald then loads a toy pop gun with nuts to shoot at them. But the chipmunks fight back!

The fight quickly turns into a big battle. Donald builds a fort out of presents on one side of the living room. Chip and Dale shoot at him from across the room using a toy cannon. Dale cleverly sneaks a toy telephone into Donald's fort. Chip uses it to call Donald and distract him. While Donald is on the phone, Chip fires the cannon directly at him!

Donald gets angry and loads the toy phone with dynamite. But it doesn't explode right away. When the chipmunks call him again, he answers, and BOOM! The dynamite explodes. After the chipmunks have won the battle, they march back home. They even get the mechanical toys to help them carry all the nuts they collected!
