Trademark da Skydiver's Early Life and Music
Trademark da Skydiver grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He first heard hip-hop music when he was eight years old. His older cousin, who was in the Navy, brought back many different types of music. This included music from the famous Wu-Tang Clan.
While growing up, Trademark often heard music from Cash Money and No Limit Records. These were popular record labels in New Orleans. However, he was also very inspired by the sound of New York City hip-hop. The entire collection of music from the Wu-Tang Clan especially influenced him. After hearing their music, Trademark felt inspired to start his own rap career.
Forming the Jet Life Group
Trademark da Skydiver was friends with rappers Curren$y and Young Roddy since they were kids. Early in his music career, a friend brought Trademark to a recording studio. Curren$y was there too. Curren$y asked Trademark to appear on a friend's mixtape.
From that moment, they both realized their music styles worked well together. They continued to create music on many projects. Soon after that studio session, they decided to form the group called Jet Life.
The Jet Life group grew over time. It included Trademark da Skydiver, Curren$y, Young Roddy, Corner Boy P, T.Y., Fiend, Street Wiz, Marygold, and producer Monsta Beatz. Trademark was very important in creating the "Jet World Order" series. These albums were released through Jet Life's partnership with iHipHop Distribution.
Exploring New Music Styles
In 2009, Trademark da Skydiver started a three-part music series. He used the name "Super Villain" for these projects. He chose this name because when he was younger, people often told him what he could or could not do. They tried to tell him who he should be.
So, he created the "Super Villain" name to show he was rebelling against these limits. By creating a powerful character, he could try new music styles. This showed how skilled and diverse he was as a rapper.
In 2012, Trademark da Skydiver released "Flamingo Barnes." He then released "Flamingo Barnes 2: Mingo Royale" in 2013. After working with the Jet Life group for several years, Trademark wanted to show his own unique talent. He created the Flamingo Barnes project and started a record label with the same name.
These two albums have a "trap music" sound. Trademark simply calls this style "Flamingo Barnes."
Recognition and Music Videos
Trademark da Skydiver has received recognition for his music. iTunes hip-hop homepage once named him an "Artist to Watch." This means they thought he was a rising star in music.
His music video for the song "Rite Nah," which features Dizzy Wright, was shown on BET's 106 & Park. It also played regularly on MTV Jams.
