What is the Transfiguration?
The Transfiguration is a moment when Jesus went up a mountain with three of his disciples: Peter, James, and John. While they were there, something amazing happened. Jesus's face began to shine like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white.
Who Appeared with Jesus?
During this incredible event, two important figures from the past appeared with Jesus. These were Moses and Elijah.
- Moses was a great prophet who led the Israelites out of slavery in Ancient Egypt. He is known for receiving the Ten Commandments from God.
- Elijah was another powerful prophet who lived many years after Moses. He performed many miracles and spoke for God.
Their appearance with Jesus showed that Jesus was connected to the most important figures in the history of God's people.
What Did the Voice Say?
While Moses and Elijah were talking with Jesus, a bright cloud covered them. A voice came from the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son: hear him." This voice was God's voice, confirming that Jesus is truly God's Son and that people should listen to what he teaches.
