Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy is an exciting animated TV show about robots. It's a sequel to Transformers: Rescue Bots. The series is based on the popular Transformers toys from Hasbro. It first aired on January 5, 2019, on Discovery Family.

This show takes place at the Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy. It's a special school for young robots. Here, new recruits learn how to become amazing rescue heroes.
What is the Rescue Bots Academy?
The Academy is a super advanced training center. It's located at a top-secret base. Famous heroes like Heatwave, Chase, Blades, and Boulder are teachers. They train the new students.
New Recruits Join the Team
The first group of students comes from Cybertron. They are Hot Shot, Hoist, Whirl, Wedge, and Medix. These young bots learn about teamwork and friendship. They go on exciting practice missions. Sometimes, they even go on real rescue missions! Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Grimlock also help them.
Meet the Characters
The show features many cool characters. They are divided into different groups.
Autobots: The Heroes
The Autobots are the good robots. They work to protect others.
The Rescue Recruits
These are the main student robots. They are learning to be heroes.
- Hot Shot (voiced by Pierce Cravens) - He used to play a game called Cube. Optimus Prime chose him for the Academy. He can change into different vehicles. These include an ATV, a jet plane, and a hovercraft boat. Later, he can even turn into a fire truck.
- Whirl (voiced by Courtney Shaw) - She's a very excited police trainee. She loves to follow the rules. Whirl is the team's optimist and like a sister to the others. She transforms into a blue police helicopter. In Season 2, she also gets a police car form.
- Hoist (voiced by Alan Trinca) - He loves to invent and fix things. He turns into a teal green tow truck. Hoist was scared of dinosaurs at first. But he overcame his fear. He can even turn into a Dinobot himself!
- Medix (voiced by Adam Andrianopoulous) - He's very logical and doesn't like surprises. Medix is the team's smart planner for missions. He changes into a white emergency response car. Later, he can also become a white rescue helicopter.
- Wedge (voiced by Mason Hensley) - He was originally created as a Decepticon. But he wants to be a leader and a Rescue Bot. He turns into an orange payloader (a type of construction vehicle). Wedge looks up to Bumblebee a lot. He even has trading cards of Autobot heroes. He later gains a sports car form, like Bumblebee.
The Original Rescue Bots
These are the experienced teachers at the Academy.
- Blades (voiced by Michael Hansen) - A cheerful Rescue Bot. He turns into an orange and white rescue helicopter. He's one of Whirl's favorite teachers. He also becomes Medix's mentor.
- Heatwave (voiced by Paul Guyet) - He leads the Rescue Force Sigma-17. He's also the main teacher at the Academy. He can transform into a red fire engine, a fire boat, and even a brontosaurus! He mentors Hot Shot.
- Chase (voiced by Frank Cwiklik) - He's the second-in-command for the Rescue Bots. Chase follows the rules strictly. He turns into a dark blue and white police car. He can also become a robotic stegosaurus. He mentors Whirl.
- Boulder (voiced by Keyon Williams) - A kind and strong robot. He's the science expert of the team. He teaches the trainees about Earth. He transforms into a green bulldozer. He also has a robotic triceratops form.
Dinobots: Powerful Allies
These are strong, dinosaur-like Transformers.
- Grimlock (voiced by Terrence Flint) - An old friend of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. He's the gym and field operations coach. He helps Hoist get over his fear of dinosaurs. He turns into a mechanical T-Rex.
- Sludge (voiced by Billy Bob Thompson) - A Dinobot science officer. He transforms into a metallic apatosaurus.
- Snarl (voiced by Mark Ashton) - The Dinobots' tactical officer. He can be a bit grumpy. He turns into a mechanical stegosaurus.
- Slash (voiced by Alex Hairston) - A female Dinobot. She turns into a velociraptor. She's a great tracker and prefers to work alone. Whirl teaches her the importance of having a partner.
Other Important Autobots
- Optimus Prime (voiced by Hiro Diaz, then Jake Tillman) - The kind leader of all Autobots. He transforms into a semi-trailer truck.
- Bumblebee (voiced by Jeremy Levy) - A key member of Optimus Prime's team. He turns into a yellow muscle car. He mentors Wedge.
- Rachet (voiced by Todd Perimutter) - Optimus Prime's friend and chief medical officer. He transforms into a white ambulance. He's also Medix's uncle and a guest teacher.
- Perceptor (voiced by Jeremy Levy) - An Autobot science expert. He can turn into a red science vehicle. He can also shrink into a microscope. He becomes the Academy's math and science professor.
- Scorch (voiced by Adam Andrianopoulous) - Hot Shot's old friend and leader of the Cyberblazers Cube team.
- Brushfire (voiced by Bimini Wright) - A Cybertronian on Earth in Australia. She transforms into an orange ATV. She meets and becomes friends with Whirl.
- Lazerbeak - A former Decepticon. The Rescue Bots find him injured and help him heal. Wedge helps the team overcome their doubts about him.
Humans: The Rescue Bots' Friends
The Rescue Bots also work with human friends.
- Cody Burns (voiced by Andy Zou) - The first kid to befriend Heatwave's team. He's the youngest member of the Burns Family. He helps Heatwave teach the new recruits.
- Wes (voiced by Xander Crowell) - A member of Cody's Teen Pioneer group. He's a big fan of the Rescue Bots and looks up to Wedge.
- Francine Greene (voiced by Kaitlin Becker) - Cody's best friend. She's a science genius. She and her dad, Dr. Ezra Greene, help the bots.

Production Details
The show was developed by Boulder Media Limited. This happened shortly after Hasbro bought the company. The series was first announced in 2017. It was confirmed that the voice actors would be non-union and based in New York. The show's episodes are 11 minutes long. A trailer for the series was released in April 2018. The show officially ended production after its second season.
