Trei Oliver (born on June 9, 1976) is a well-known American college football coach. He is currently the head football coach at North Carolina Central University. He took on this important role in December 2018. Before becoming a coach, Oliver played college football himself. He was a defensive back and punter for North Carolina Central from 1994 to 1997.

From 1994 to 1997, Trei Oliver played football for North Carolina Central University. He was a key player, helping his team as both a defensive back and a punter. Playing for the Eagles gave him a deep understanding of the game.
Early Coaching Career
After his playing days, Oliver began his coaching career. He worked with several college teams, gaining valuable experience.
- From 1999 to 2002, he coached at Delaware State University.
- He returned to North Carolina Central from 2003 to 2006. Here, he coached special teams, wide receivers, and defensive backs.
- From 2007 to 2010, he coached at Grambling State University.
- He then coached at North Carolina A&T University from 2011 to 2015.
- Before becoming a head coach, he was a defensive coordinator at Southern University from 2016 to 2018.
Leading the North Carolina Central Eagles
In December 2018, Trei Oliver became the head coach for the North Carolina Central Eagles. This was a special moment, as he returned to lead his former team.
First Seasons and Challenges
His first season as head coach was in 2019. The team finished with four wins and eight losses. The 2020–21 season was different because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The team did not play that year. In 2021, the Eagles improved, finishing with six wins and five losses.
Championship Success
The 2022 season was amazing for Coach Oliver and the Eagles!
- They had a fantastic record of 10 wins and only 2 losses.
- They won the MEAC championship.
- They also won the Black college national championship. This was a huge achievement for the team.
- Coach Oliver was named the MEAC Coach of the Year for his leadership.
In 2023, the team continued their success. They won the MEAC championship again! They finished the season with nine wins and three losses.

As of the 2024 season, Coach Oliver's overall record at North Carolina Central is 37 wins and 21 losses. He has led the team to two conference championships and one national championship. His leadership has brought great pride to the university.
