Trei Oliver was born on June 9, 1976. He is an American college football coach. He is currently the head football coach at North Carolina Central University. He has held this important position since December 2018. Before becoming a coach, Oliver played college football for North Carolina Central. He played as a defensive back and a punter from 1994 to 1997.

Trei Oliver's Coaching Journey
Trei Oliver has had a long and successful career in college football coaching. He started his coaching journey in 1999. He worked with several different teams before returning to North Carolina Central.
Early Coaching Roles
Oliver began coaching at Delaware State University from 1999 to 2002. He coached defensive backs and helped with special teams. After that, he returned to his alma mater, North Carolina Central University, from 2003 to 2006. There, he coached special teams, wide receivers, and defensive backs.
Moving to Other Teams
From 2007 to 2010, Oliver coached at Grambling State University. He continued to work with special teams and outside linebackers. He then moved to North Carolina A&T State University, where he coached from 2011 to 2015. His roles included coaching outside linebackers. Before becoming a head coach, he was the defensive coordinator at Southern University from 2016 to 2018.

Trei Oliver became the head coach for the North Carolina Central Eagles in December 2018. He has led the team to many victories and achievements.
Key Seasons and Achievements
- 2019 Season: In his first year as head coach, the team finished with a 4–8 record.
- 2020–21 Season: The team did not play this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- 2021 Season: The Eagles improved significantly, finishing with a 6–5 record.
- 2022 Season: This was a fantastic year for the Eagles! They had a 10–2 record. They also won the MEAC championship. They went on to win the black college national championship at the Celebration Bowl. Oliver was named the MEAC Coach of the Year for his excellent leadership.
- 2023 Season: The team continued its success, finishing 9–3. They shared the MEAC championship again. They also made it to the first round of the NCAA Division I playoffs.
- 2024 Season: The Eagles finished with an 8–3 record, showing continued strong performance.
As of July 2025, Trei Oliver's overall coaching record at North Carolina Central is 37 wins and 21 losses. He has led his team to two MEAC championships and one black college national championship.
