How Did Tres Sargentos Begin?
Tres Sargentos started to grow around a railway line. The General Manuel Belgrano railway was built through this area in 1906. A train station was then set up in 1907. This helped the village to develop and connect with other places.
How Did Tres Sargentos Get Its Name?
The name Tres Sargentos means "Three Sergeants" in Spanish. This name comes from a brave story in Argentina's history. After a battle called the Battle of Vilcapugio, General Manuel Belgrano sent three soldiers and a native guide named Reynaga on a secret mission.
These four brave people found some enemy soldiers. They made a plan and managed to capture them. This daring act is remembered as the "Action of Tambo Nuevo." To honor these heroes, many streets in Tres Sargentos are named after them. You can find streets named after José María Gómez, Santiago Albarracin, Juan Bautista Salazar, Indio Reynaga, General Lamadrid, and General Belgrano.
Who Are Some Famous People from Tres Sargentos?
