Club History

How Treviso Football Club Started

The club began in 1909 as Football Club Treviso. It has always played in the lower national leagues in Italy. These leagues include Serie B and Serie D. The team's best result was finishing sixth in Serie B in the 1950–51 season. This was under the coach Nereo Rocco. In 1993, the club had to close down because of money problems.

Rising Through the Ranks (1990s and 2000s)

In the summer of 1993, a new club was formed. It was called F.B.C. Treviso 1993 and joined Serie D. The club had an amazing run of three promotions in a row. This happened from 1994 to 1997 under coach Giuseppe Pillon. Treviso reached Serie B, which was a big achievement. It had been over 40 years since they were last in Italy's second-highest league.

Treviso was moved down to Serie C1 in 2001. But they returned to Serie B in 2003. In 2005, coach Pillon came back to Treviso. The team finished fifth in Serie B and made it to the promotion playoffs. However, they lost to Perugia.

Treviso's Time in Serie A

In August 2005, something unexpected happened. Two other teams, Genoa and Torino, faced issues that led to them being moved out of Serie A. Because of this, Treviso and Ascoli were chosen to take their places in Serie A.

So, in the 2005–06 season, Treviso played in the Italian Serie A. This was the first and only time the club has been in Italy's top league. The team was first coached by Ezio Rossi, then by Alberto Cavasin. At first, Treviso had to play their home games in Padua. This was because their own stadium was not ready for Serie A matches. But later, a special rule allowed them to play at their home ground.

Treviso's time in Serie A was short. They were near the bottom of the league for most of the season. On April 9, 2006, they lost to Messina and were officially moved back to Serie B. There was a big football scandal that year, and it seemed Treviso might stay in Serie A. But on July 25, 2006, other teams had their penalties reduced. This meant Treviso was indeed moved down to Serie B.

Financial Challenges and Restart

Back in Serie B, Treviso started to have money problems. The club faced penalties because of financial issues. Key players like Leonardo Bonucci left the team. The club did not have enough money to get new players. In the summer of 2009, the club went through serious money problems. They were moved down from Serie B that same year.

The Club's New Beginnings (2009 Onwards)

A new club was formed in 2009. It was called A.S.D. Treviso 2009. This new club started playing in Eccellenza Veneto, which was the sixth level of Italian football at the time.

In the 2010–11 season, Treviso was promoted from Serie D to Lega Pro Seconda Divisione. The club then changed its name to Football Club Treviso. The next year, they were promoted again to Lega Pro Prima Divisione. In the 2012–13 season, the club was moved down to Lega Pro Seconda Divisione. After that, they faced more issues and were excluded from the league.

The club was started again in the summer of 2013 as A.C.D. Treviso. They began playing in Promozione. After the 2013–14 season, the club won its promotion playoffs. This moved them up to Eccellenza.

In 2021, the club changed its name to Treviso F.B.C. 1993. They were promoted to Eccellenza. They almost made it to Serie D but lost in a playoff game. However, in the 2022–23 season, they won their group in the Eccellenza Veneto league. This brought them back to the fourth level of Italian football after ten years. Their big win came on the last day of the season. They beat Giorgione 2–0 at their home stadium, Stadio Omobono Tenni.
