Trey Fanjoy is an American music video director. She creates the visual stories that go along with songs. Trey has directed over 150 music videos for big record labels. Her videos have been shown on popular TV channels like CMT, VH1, and MTV. She made history as the first woman to win the Country Music Association Award for Video of the Year. She is also the only woman to win this award twice, and one of only two people to win it three times!

About Trey Fanjoy

Trey Fanjoy was born in North Carolina. In the 1980s, she moved to Los Angeles to try acting. While working as a waitress, she became interested in directing. She then moved to Nashville, a big city for music, and lived with a songwriter named Tammy Hyler.

Trey worked as a receptionist at RCA Records Nashville. One day, she was asked to help fix the lighting for a music video by Jon Randall. This led her to meet music video director Jon Small. He chose her to be a producer on his videos. Trey directed her very first music video in 1997. It was for the song "Heart Hold On" by The Buffalo Club. After that, she directed videos for many famous artists like Lonestar, Keith Urban, and Billy Gilman.

Awards and Achievements

Trey Fanjoy has won many important awards for her amazing music videos. She is known for directing videos for some of the biggest names in country music, including Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert.

Here are some of the awards she has won:

  • In 2007, she won the CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year for Taylor Swift's song "Tim McGraw".
  • In 2008, she won two CMT Music Awards for Taylor Swift's "Our Song": Female Video of the Year and Video of the Year.
  • In 2009, she won the Country Music Association Award for Music Video of the Year for Taylor Swift's "Love Story". She also won three CMT Music Awards that year for "Love Story" (Female Video of the Year, Video of the Year) and Video Director of the Year.
  • She won the Country Music Association Award for Video of the Year twice for Miranda Lambert's songs: "The House That Built Me" in 2010 and "Bluebird" in 2020. This makes her the only woman to win this award more than once!
