Early Life and Musical Start

Miranda Leigh Lambert was born on November 10, 1983, in Longview, Texas. She grew up in Lindale, Texas. Her parents are Rick and Bev Lambert. Her father was a police officer and played in a country-rock band in the 1970s. Her parents later became private detectives. After a tough time when her family lost a lot, her parents started a ministry and helped people in need by offering their home as a safe place. Miranda has said that these experiences inspired her music.

While still in high school, Miranda began her professional singing career with "The Texas Pride Band." She also performed as the lead singer for the house band at the Reo Palm Isle in Longview, Texas. This famous venue had hosted music legends like Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson.

At 16, Miranda appeared on the Johnnie High Country Music Revue, a talent show that had helped start the career of LeAnn Rimes. She later went to Nashville to record music, but she didn't like the "pop" style they wanted her to sing. So, she returned to Texas in 2000 and asked her father to teach her guitar so she could write her own songs. In 2001, she released her first album, which had 10 songs she wrote.

In 2002, Miranda continued to perform around Texas, opening for other country artists. In 2003, she tried out for the TV talent show Nashville Star. She finished in third place. During her time on the show, a judge named Tracy Gershon noticed her talent and helped her get a record deal with Epic Records.

First Albums: Kerosene and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2004–2008)

On September 15, 2003, Miranda signed with Epic Records. Her first single, "Me and Charlie Talking," was released in 2004. It was the first song from her debut album, Kerosene. She wrote or co-wrote 11 of the 12 songs on the album. Kerosene became a number one album on the Billboard country charts and sold over a million copies. Four songs from the album became Top 40 hits, including the title track. Miranda also toured with famous artists like Keith Urban and George Strait.
