Early Life and Beginnings

Music Journey

Trick Daddy first appeared on a song called "Scarred" in 1996. This song was by Luther "Luke" Campbell, a former member of the group 2 Live Crew. The song became popular and got the attention of fans and music producers.

Ted Lucas, who was the CEO of Slip-n-Slide Records, signed Trick Daddy to his new record label. Slip-n-Slide released Trick Daddy's first album, Based on a True Story, in 1997. This album was very popular in the Miami area.

In 1998, he released his next album, www.thug.com. Around this time, he shortened his stage name from "Trick Daddy Dollars" to just "Trick Daddy." Atlantic Records then signed him and released Book of Thugs: Chapter AK 47 in 1998. The song "Shut Up" was a big single from that album.

His album Thugs Are Us, released in 2001, included the hit song "I'm a Thug". This song reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His fifth album, Thug Holiday, had two singles: "In da Wind" and the song named after the album.

In 2004, he released Thug Matrimony: Married to the Streets. This album featured the very popular song "Let's Go". The song was produced by Lil Jon and featured Twista. It also used parts of the guitar music from the Ozzy Osbourne song "Crazy Train". "Let's Go" reached number 7 on the Hot 100 chart.

After Thug Matrimony, Trick Daddy released Back by Thug Demand in 2006. He also appeared on several songs by DJ Khaled. These included "Born-N-Raised" in 2006 and "I'm So Hood" in 2007. "I'm So Hood" reached number 19 on the Hot 100 chart.

Trick Daddy left Slip-n-Slide in 2008. He then released his eighth album, Finally Famous: Born a Thug Still a Thug, in 2009. This album was released under his own record label, Dunk Ryder Records. He continues to perform his classic songs and new music across the United States.
