Katrina Laverne Taylor (born December 3, 1974), known professionally as Trina, is an American rapper. She became famous in the late 1990s. This was thanks to her songs with Trick Daddy like "Nann ..." and "Shut Up".
In 2000, Trina released her first album, Da Baddest .... She also appeared on a remix of "One Minute Man" with Missy Elliott. In 2002, she released "B R Right" featuring Ludacris. This song was produced by Kanye West and was on her second album, Diamond Princess.
Trina's third album, Glamorest Life (2005), had the hit song "Here We Go". This song featured Kelly Rowland and sold very well. Her next album, Still da Baddest (2008), reached the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart. It was also number one on the US R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In 2010, she released her fifth album, Amazin'. This album included songs with Diddy, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne.
XXL magazine has called Trina "the most consistent female rapper of all time". In 2014, Billboard listed her as one of the "31 Female Rappers Who Changed Hip-Hop".

Early Life and Beginnings
Katrina Laverne Taylor was born on December 3, 1974, in Miami, Florida. She grew up in the Liberty City area. Her father is from the Dominican Republic, and her mother was Bahamian.
Trina went to Miami Northwestern Senior High School. She was a majorette there and graduated. Before music, she first thought about becoming a real estate agent.
Trina's Music Journey
Diamond Princess Album (2001–2003)
Trina started working on her second album in 2001. She worked with Missy Elliott and had more creative control. Trina said the album showed "more what Trina's about". During this time, she started her own record label, Diva Enterprises. In 2002, she signed a young artist named Lil' Brianna. Lil' Brianna later became known as Brianna Perry.
On August 27, 2002, Trina released her second album, Diamond Princess. It was a success, reaching No. 14 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album's song "Told Y'all" featured Rick Ross. Another song, "B R Right", featured Ludacris. This song was very popular on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Glamorest Life Album (2004–2005)
On October 4, 2005, Trina released her third album, Glamorest Life. It debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200. The album had the single "Don't Trip" with Lil Wayne.
The song "Here We Go" featured Kelly Rowland. This became one of Trina's biggest hits. It reached No. 17 on the Hot 100 chart. The song was also certified Gold in the US.
Still Da Baddest Album (2006–2008)
In 2007, Trina signed with EMI and her original label, Slip-n-Slide Records.
On April 1, 2008, Trina released her fourth album, Still da Baddest. This album was a huge success. It reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200. It also hit No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. This was her first album to reach the top of the charts. The album included the songs "Single Again" and "I Got a Thang for You" with Keyshia Cole.
Amazin' Album (2009–2010)
On May 4, 2010, Trina released her fifth album, Amazin'. It debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200. It also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart.
The album featured popular singles like "Million Dollar Girl". This song included Diddy and Keri Hilson. Another song, "Always", featured Monica.
Independent Music and TV (2011–2016)
In 2011, Trina released a mixtape called Diamonds Are Forever. It had songs like "Ghetto" with T-Pain. Later, she announced she was no longer with Slip-N-Slide Records. In 2012, she released another mixtape, Back 2 Business.
Trina also appeared on TV. In 2012, she was a co-host on the VH1 show Tiny Tonight!. In 2015, she signed a new deal with Penalty Entertainment. She released the song "Real One" with Rico Love. In 2016, Trina released "Overnight", a song about her career journey. She also released "Forget That" for the Meet the Blacks movie soundtrack. Trina celebrated her birthday in 2016 by releasing a surprise music collection called Dynasty 6.
The One Album and Reality TV (2017–2020)
In 2017, it was announced that Trina would star in the VH1 reality TV show Love & Hip Hop: Miami with Trick Daddy.
On June 21, 2019, Trina released her sixth album, The One. In 2020, she shared that she was working on another music project.
Recent Achievements (2021–Present)
On June 16, 2021, Trina took part in a music battle called Verzuz. She competed against her friend and fellow rapper, Eve. The next year, Trina received a special honor. She was given the 2022 "I Am Hip-Hop" icon award at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.
Professional Wrestling Appearances
On September 21, 2022, Trina made a guest appearance on All Elite Wrestling's Dynamite show. She supported Diamante in a match. A few nights later, Trina appeared with Diamante again. After the match, Trina surprised everyone by supporting Jade Cargill.
Family Life
Trina's mother, Vernessa Taylor, passed away in September 2019. She was 62 years old.
Giving Back to the Community
Trina started the Diamond Doll Foundation. This is a non-profit group that helps young girls with challenges in their lives. The foundation works with the Florida Entertainment Summit. Together, they organize a Jingle Bell Toy Drive. This event collects toys for children in South Florida.

Trina has received many awards and nominations for her music.
