About His Early Life
Tridib Kumar Chattopadhyay was born in 1958 in the city of Kolkata, India. His father, Dinesh Chandra Chattopadhyay, was also a well-known writer and publisher. Tridib went to Hindu School. Later, he studied Botany (the study of plants) and earned a master's degree from Calcutta University.
His Career as a Writer and Editor
Tridib Kumar Chattopadhyay began his writing journey in 1976. He started with Kishore Bharati Magazine, a children's magazine his father had founded. His first novel, Haath (meaning "The Hand"), was published in 1985.
He has written and edited many books. These include exciting science fiction stories and thrilling mystery novels. He also created the popular Jagu Mama detective series. Some of his stories are for adults too. His novel Mukhosher Arale was even made into a television show!
Tridib has won several awards for his amazing work in Bengali Children's literature. Today, he is the chief editor of Kishore Bharati magazine. He also runs the Patra Bharati Publication house in Kolkata. He often writes for other Bengali magazines. He is also a guest lecturer at the University of Calcutta, teaching about book publishing.
Since 2004, Tridib Kumar Chattopadhyay has been the General Secretary of the Publishers & Booksellers Guild. This group helps organize the International Kolkata Book Fair, a very popular event. He is also a member of the Indian Science Congress Association and the World Wildlife Fund.
