Trinity Episcopal Church is a special church building in McArthur, Ohio, United States. It's where a group of people, called a parish, who are part of the Episcopal Church, come together to worship. This church is very old and important. It's located where Sugar and High Streets meet. Because it was built a long time ago and is well-preserved, it has been named a historic site.

Building the Church

Trinity Episcopal Church was built in 1882. The land it stands on was given by a person named Andrew Wolf. He also gave the church an extra house next door. This house was used as a rectory, which is where the church's leader, or pastor, lives.

A local builder named Oscar W. Gilman was hired to design the church. He also managed the construction work. Seven years after the church was finished, the church hired Mr. Gilman again. This time, he added the bell tower to the building.

Church Style and Design

Oscar W. Gilman's design for the church has some cool features. It has a very steep, pointed roof called a gabled roof. There's also a rounded part at the back of the church called an apse. You can also see buttresses, which are strong supports built into the outside walls.

The church is a great example of the Late Gothic Revival style. This style often includes tall, narrow windows with pointed tops, known as lancet windows. The windows at Trinity Episcopal Church are made of beautiful stained glass.

The walls of the church are made from bricks that were made by hand. These bricks sit on a strong base, or foundation, made of large, hand-cut sandstone blocks. Both the sandstone and the clay used for the bricks came from nearby, which means they were found right in the local area.

A Special Historic Place

In 1976, Trinity Episcopal Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of buildings, sites, and objects that are important in American history. The church was added because its old architecture was very well-preserved.

People in McArthur have known this church for a long time. It's an important part of the town's history. Today, Trinity Episcopal Church is still an active church. It is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio. In 2012, Bruce Smith was the pastor there.
