Triplett was started in 1870. This happened when a railroad line was built to reach that spot. The community got its name from J. E. M. Triplett, who was one of the first people to settle there. A post office, which is a place where you send and receive mail, opened in Triplett in 1875. It stayed open for many years until 2001.
